President Donald Trump announced over the weekend that he is evaluating candidates to head the Bureau of Labor Statistics and is expected to announce his nominee by the middle of the week. Following a July jobs report showing a slowdown in hiring, the president fired the previous commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, stating that the jobs numbers were falsified. “She had the biggest miscalculations in over 50 years,” the president added.

In the recent trip to Israel and the Gaza Strip, United States Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff met with officials from Israel and Palestine in and effort to broker a ceasefire. Spokesperson for the United States Department of State Tammy Bruce said upon Envoy Witkoff’s arrival, “I would suggest that we might have some good news, but, again, as we know, this could be a constantly changing dynamic.”
